This piece devised to capture
the eye of Advertising Agencies. My aim was to gain employment from those
agencies I wanted to work for. Utilising the accepted concept of ideas
coming to individuals via a lightbulb hovering above their heads. I constructed
sturdy boxes of mixed stock and a false floor. Then I added a label with
copy reading "Ideas Don't Come In Light Bulbs... My Contact Details
Do!"
I carefully separated the glass bulb from their medal bases. This allowed
me to insert letters arranged to identify this website. The letters were
painted and positioned as if to replace the tungstan. The final step was
wiring a simple electrical circuit. That being an on-switch to 12v battery
to mini-lightbulb. It was strategically placed to light immediately behind
the web address.
In summary, when the lid is lifted the inner lightbulb lights up directing
attention toward the web address.
Self promotion so vital and somewhat expected now-a-days. Not only does
it convey the belief that an Artist/Designer, like myself for instance is
worth the investment. But the manner in which the promotion is devised directly
reflects on those skills of the artist.
Those Sydney agencies pursued were Leo Burnett, Sattchi+Sattchi, Singleton
Advertising, McCannEricson, George Patterson Bates.
I received an invitation to Leo Burnett. |
